11th ACR Gun Trucks
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: 11th ACR Gun Trucks
These two Hummers were driven by 1/11th Mortar Platoon soldiers while escorting convoys, or over watching bridges and other sites. Notice the various machine gun protection up top. The 50cal on the left and a M240B on the right. The right Hummer also has the tank barrell bumper installed, as well as the high water snorkel kit. Many of these Hummers were handed over from unit to unit as they rotated through their year deployments. I was told that whenever a Hummer was seen as being in good shape, ie; fixed up for comfort and protection by the crew, it was often then snatched up by some one in the "upper" chain of command for their own use as a mode of transportation. Then the soldier was stuck getting and improving on another vehicle all over again.[img][/img]
