Post subject: Scoring points in IL2/PF

This was copied from www.Airwarfare.com (great site IMO)...:chug:

How do I score (& collect) points online?

The scoring rules are rather complicated.
The most important ones are:

100 points for shooting down an enemy plane 10 points additionally for a successful landing (sometimes, I'm not certain how it works)
-400 points for shooting down a friendly plane.
20 points for taking out enemy AA. you have to survive the flight (either land or bail out successfully) to get your points credited. Bailing without a proper reason (all shot to hell) just to score points is frowned upon!

The following rules apply to patch 1.04 (subject to change in future patches):
- if a plane is destroyed (including ground fire) the last pilot to damage the plane gets the kill.
- the points awarded for a victory depend on the plane type - typically 100 points for single engine, 200 for two engines.
Extra points for fast and multi-engined planes.
- once you hit the Refly button the points received in the current flight are added to your total score.
- if you crash then you will only receive 10% of the collected points.
- if you land the airplane outside the boundaries of the airfield then you will receive 70% of the collected points.
- if you bail out then you will only receive 50% of the collected points.
- at least 400 points are subtracted from your total score for shooting down friendly planes.
- destroying a tank scores 50 points and more, depending on the toughness of the tank. a Tiger II or IS-2 will yield more points than a Pz IV or T-34.
- a similar system applies to cannons and AAA, but generally they're worth less points.
- sinking a ship gets you 200 points and higher.
Detailed list of Scores available for all objects in game

Thanks to Grille Chompa ([email protected]) and Icewolf for this detailed information.

One of the things I like about this scoring system is you have to land back at your starting point to get credit for the work. In the past as in CFS, if you shot someone down, you got the credit for the kill, that is, unless someone shot your target just before they crashed, but that is another subject. In IL2, once you detroy your target, the task isn't over. You have to land and that's not always easy and especially if there's enemy fighters, AAA or your plane is badly shot up or wounded. Many times I've crashed trying to land with a shot up plane only to loose those hard earned points. IL2 is a game of strategy, teamwork and planning.

Case in point:

Flying in IL2 is a team effort and glory/kill chasers will usually get KIA as they are too focused on the crippled target to notice the 2 bogey's on their six. Flying with a team mate is essential to survival and especially if you want to score any points. Wink
