Post subject: Organised Bombing Raids

Hi All, I was wondering if any of you regularly arrange combined flights on-line using teamspeak?
The reason I ask is that I have Just Flight's Lancaster and it has animated bombs etc, and thought wouldn't it be great to organise a raid on Dresden or somewhere, all keeping in formation, taking off from Scampton or Waddington for instance? Someone can organise it all, i.e be in charge of the mission, tell us when to start engines etc, and they could throw a dice during the mission to decide who get's shot down. There could also be defenders, 109's 110's and 190s. Obviously you'd need to set a few hours aside, or choose frog targets, I'm all for that lol.
Regards
Dave

Goose bumps & chivers up me spine !! This is it... time to get the troops rallied around.

I'm signed up ... Lancaster Please?

I've no experience of the architechture of FSX but i'll certainly help out in any way i can to get us off the ground.

I feel the another marathon flight in the making.

With Just Flight's Lancaster you get eight variants, detailed 1940's scenery of RAF Scampton, including aprons, and a Pathfinder Mosquito thrown in, well worth the money.

View from Bomb Aimer's position in Lanc:
Press the button and watch the bombs drop.

You can also access the astral dome and the guns. The guns and turrets are movable.

Lanc sounds excellent with the added bonus of the pathfinder Mossie and Scampton scenery. I'd go so far to say it's almost a must buy.
Looked at justflight site and it says there will be an FSX patch later this year. Am i right in thinking that it will currently run in FSX without a patch?? If so i'm off to order it via download asap!

Dave i'm not sure if you are aware but 16 of us Re-enacted the Doolittle Raid on the 60th anniversary a couple years ago...took off without a couple of minutes of the actual time they did in B25 Mitchells off a custom made USS Hornet. The mission time for us was around 14hrs. Marathon flight lol.

Along with this we followed the preperation that the guys back then went through from picking the Mitchells up and taking them to Florida for the Training and subsequent flight across to the West coast for loading onto the Hornet. I reckon this was about 6 months of prep from us starting to take off on the day of the Raid.

We used Teamspeak for Comms and had flyers from UK, Holland, USA and Canada. The level of commitment was 2nd to none, it was an amazing achievement and will always stay in my memory as i'm sure with the other guys that flew it Smile

We used FS9 on that occasion and created scenery over Tokyo and used an add on called AirFX (if i remember correct) to create Flak and to enable bombs to be dropped and explode, although these were not visible to other online flyers unfortunately back then.

Being new to FSX I'm curious what new things will be available to us for a run on Dreasden, regarding bombs, flak, multiplayer etc, etc... Having said that where there's a will there's a way huh Smile

I'm personally very excited about this.

Dreasden here we come Mr. Green

Hi Sly, yeah it's a great product. Unfortunatley it can't be used properly in FSX yet, at least I can't get it to run properly. The aircraft itself looks fine, except the main wheels, prop blades and all internal textures are missing.
It's a shame as it would probably work better in FSX, not that I'm any expert on it.
I wonder if any of you boffins have a work around?
Regards
Dave

Hi Guys

I have d/l the Lancaster from Aeroplane Heaven,

www.aeroplaneheaven.com/

these are the guys that made the lanc for justflight... and it works in FSX (with props wheels etc)
I think some of the gauges in the VC don't work properly but I can live with that Laughing

Took it for a flight from Scampton over to the Derwent valley and did a 50 foot pass over Derwent water....... bought back memories Laughing

Flys nice and a good looking model, I believe it is the same one as JustFlights but without the Scampton scenery and bundled stuff.

Need to check it out in multiplayer with someone

Thera are four or five different lanc Versions each one has 3 variations, each having a different VC... eg Pilot & Flight Engineer VC..... Navigator/Wireles Operator..... Gunner/ Bomb Aimer etc etc..

Nelson
Can you confirm that the JustFlight lanc is the same?

Included is a Herc engined BIII in 428th RCAF Colors so wonder if TgBubba and NoAmmo still around

This could be an interesting project Rolling Eyes

Will open an Operation Firestorm Thread and throw some idea's around

Shout me for MP test if anyone available

I'm up for a test session, not in till 01:00 Tuesday then got 2 nights off. Just finished work so need some shut eye first. I'll bell you l8r see if we can arrange some flight time mate Mr. Green

Btw if they have it working for FSX then wouldn't that indicate that there shouldn't be too much work to get it working in the Just Flight format?? Maybe they re-working the ful pack with Scampton and Mossie Pathfinders before releasing??

Anyway off to grab the D/L ... catchya l8r Sly

Hi guys, I can't get my FS2004 version to work properly in FSX, tried a couple of times, copied the guages, textures etc, but still no internal textures or mainwheels. Anyone ever see Steven Spielburg's film about the B17 crew who were saved by cartoon wheels? Well it looks a bit like that lol. Hopefully the patch won't take too long.
I just took a look on the Aeroplane Heaven site and it says the lanc works with some FSX features disabled? Could you tell me what that is and I'll try it on my JF version please?
I'm looking forward to playing online, sounds great by what you tell me about the Doolittle raid. Laughing
