Leopard 2 A6M Canada
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

One of twenty A6Ms loaned by Germany with additional mine protection, they will be sent back as the new A4Ms (ex Dutch) replaces them in due course.

Recceboy can clarify, I think that photo is taken in Germany, there are no actual 2A6M's in Canada, but have been used in Afghanistan for some time now. Just the 2A4's waiting for upgrades in Montreal...

Not sure when the Dutch Leos arrive, but I am sure Canada can do a great deal on some extra ones for spares or whatever. The Netherlands Army will loose all of its tanks due to budget cuts. . .

found the picture of this Leo 2 A6M at the Army Recognition site

It is taken in 2007 during the hand-over of the first Leo 2 (of the 20 batch) from KMW to the Canadian Ambassador to Germany

Michel

You beat me to it.

Of the 20 Leo 2A6M's that arrived when I was in the sandbox in Aug 2007, 15 are still there. 5 Ex-Dutch Leo 2A4's ,now Leo 2A4M CAN have replaced the 5 A6's that have been sent back to Germany. They are all scheduled to be sent back to Canada as well as the Leo 1 C-2's later this year.

Of the 80+ leo 2A4's, they are going through Canadian mods right now and will be with the Strathcona's around Aug/Sept 2012.......
