New to me ~ T-58
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Bob,
Thanks to you and all others who've welcomed me. Please check Neil Baumgardeners' response for the two T25E1's. They were located in front of a HQ building near the Main Front at APG, then suddenly the fence "swallowed" them up (they moved the security fence to encompass that building) so being that they weren't within the Ordnance Museums confines, those at the Museum now would not have known them.
Years ago, I had a "falling out" with a Museum Director there about the M67 Flamethrower Tank which was being "dragged" around the M88 ARV training area, along with the many M48C tanks, M103 Heavy Tank hulls, and probably other items before I'd first stumbled into the area. There's no reason not to have at least one example of an existing vehicle on display.
Did anyone here attend any of the APG Armed Forces day shows? They were great. The main Front had bleachers for guests, bus tours of Munson Training area etc.
As for the M3 Lee in Newark, I never seen it. Was it on the Chrysler property? It may be the one in the brochure listed here" Pencader Heritage Chrysler tank Plant" just do a computer search on it and click it.
I lived in PA until 2004 (layed off from my job) moved to our vacation home in Lewes, DE in 2005, found job, transferred to Glasgow, DE in 2008, resigned from job, moved back here Feb 2010, found job last April so for now am living about 8 miles from ocean. On 2nd marriage (happily) both our children are grown and live in PA.
Of Possible interest are the following items: Oak Orchard, DE VFW- M48 Tank (fair shape), Ephrata, PA- VFW M60A2 MBT (fair), Millersville, PA VFW- M60A3 TTS MBT (fair), Christiana, DE VFW- M42 twin 40mm SPAAG (poor),
Elkton, MD VFW M42 twin 40mm SPAAG (fair).
Take care, Rick Eshleman

These pics turned up in a folder of mine with filenames that don't match the rest of my pics the folder....which makes me suspect that they aren't mine originally. If anyone recognizes these pics as their own, please speak up and take credit, or PM me if you prefer they be taken down.

"Our man" at the facility indicates he doesn't see any security issues that preclude posting them. Wink

Mark,
Those are two different vehicles. Bottom one is T58 (I believe). You can see six road wheels and I think the seventh is hidden. The one second from bottom appears to me to have interleaved road wheels. I have no idea what it is, but somebody will.

I believe they are the T69 and T54E1. I was mistaken that the T58 was on the Tank road (these don't look like any of my old photos) I have to dig my file boxes out of my garage, there I have old lists of what was at APG.
These shots look like Boothby Hill Rd. area?
I have submitted a few photos from the restricted areas from 1986 (General Salomon permitted me to visit assisted by a public affairs officer) and some captured equipment in the 11th Military Intelligence BN who allowed me to photo items there.
Rick

PS: Years ago I sold my photos to various guys around the world. They would have been labelled- Richard S. Eshleman and did have my numbering system on back.

Rick,
You are probably right. I'm pretty darn sure those aren't my photos, but don't think they are all that old, either. Look digital and I'm embarrassed to say I don't recall how I came by them. Hoping the photographer will see and recognize them.

These photos are from the last couple years. The 'Mile of tanks was taken apart and stored near 'the warehouse' (Bldg 4501 if memory serves) about 2001. They sat there until a couple years ago when they were moved down to a lot on Boothby Hill Rd just outside the restricted area so that a temporary building could be erected in the parking lot where they had been stored so that other buildings could be torn down as part of BRAC.

Doug thought these might be my photos but I didn't take any of the vehicles when they were in the Boothby Hill Lot although I did take a fair number of groups on tours there and know several other members of this group who visited during that time (and took way better pictures than I ever did :-))

Oh neither have interleaved roadwheels. It is just the angle the photo was shot at. The suspensions are typical 1950s US suspension of paired roadwheels and a center guide track

Looking at the "properties" of these photos, they were taken in 2006. As I have some others from the big lot of tanks behind the museum with the same properties, I think they are from a Flikr or other public photo hosting account that might even have been linked on the DG. I don't think the photographer is a member (or at least, a regular) here. Might have been part of one of my "Google" exercises, also.

Doug, the photos posted above may be mine, but I'd have to compare side-by-side...

I took my ait training at aberdeen in i think 1969 and the only occilating trurret tank an tank road was th T54 which was last seen in open storage behind the museum. It impressed me so much I took this picture of it. Id like to know if anyone has any idea of what the turret interier was like . The hull is obviously a patton.
