OT-810 from MAM 2011 Airshow
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

nice photo's

That was a major rebuild of the OT-810 to make it look like a SdKfz 251/17

B-17 and Lancaster on the same airshow! Is the Lancaster an UK-based plane that crossed the Atlantic?

I remember you have a Canon 100-400, what kind of lens do you use on the Panasonic for airshows?

Thanks Michel!

Massimo -
The Lancaster is from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, ON. She's a beauty! The two low passes she made upon her arrival at the the Saturday show were the high point of the day!

Yes, I am still using my trusty Canon 100-400. Mrs VB is the proud owner of a Panasonic GH2 Smile (replacement for her G1 passing on Sad ) As for lenses, she was switching between her Panasonic m4/3 45-200mm and Olympus (4/3 with converter for m4/3) 70-300mm for the long shots. The m4/3 system has a 2x crop so the focal length of the lenses are doubled in 35mm equivalency.
Both of these lenses are 1/3 or less in weight and cost of my Canon.

For statics she uses the Panasonic m4/3 14-45mm.

For tracking the planes in flight, she used a camera burst setting that had no effective blackout of the EVF. It made tracking the aircraft A LOT easier than the earlier models! We imagine that in a few years the Panasonic system will continue to improve and will offer burst rates that rival Canon & Nikon.

Cheers!
VB

I wasn't aware there was a flying Lancaster in Canada!

I've read great things about Panasonic GH2. The whole mirrorless cameras look interesting, not only Panasonic and Olympus, but Sony NEXT as well (Sony have very little lens choice so far).

I am curious about the Olympus 4/3 with converter for m4/3, is auto-focus slow due to the converter?

Panasonic is definitely bridging the gap.

Mrs VB LOVES her GH2. It is a huge step up from her G1 in terms of image quality and ease of tracking via EVF - not to mention the astounding video capabilities (which she has only begun to explore.)

Yes, the 4/3 to m4/3 converter slows the focus - but that's the longest lens she has until we can afford the Panasonic m4/3 100-300.
We rented one this year for a local airshow and were very impressed with the lens and its image quality!

As usual, its only a matter of money! What else is new......
