Stug IV for sale on Milweb
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

490,000 Euros which is $653,758. No engine or transmission. A tad over priced IMHO. A working Grizzly goes for $325,000 and an M5A1 Stuart goes for around $250,000. (Which some argue are also over priced.)

If one was fortunate enough to buy it and an authentic powertrain was not available, would you adapt an off-the-shelf engine and transmission and put in it or leave as is?

WTF? Where did this come from? "Rare" is an understatement. Hmm ... I suspect rebuild from Stug III and Pz IV parts otherwise we would have heard about it earlier, happy if I'm wrong though.

Ok, I just checked the Surviving Panzers file and there it was. Somehow it has completely slipped under my radar, though I admit I have not been as active in my research for the last couple of years.

I suppose this StuG was assembled from the digged parts of different blown tanks, including StuG IV.
I don't know, what was the exact set of source details.

why buy it, if it cant move? Its not like engine and transmission is something you pick up at the local constructors store/hardware supplier.

A Maybach HL 120 TRM engine and Pz IV automotive components are fairly easy to source for a collector (many have more than one unit on hand already). If not shooting for absolute accuracy a Tatra diesel sollution is close enough.

Look at it as being an eBay "Free Listing" weekend.
You stick on something with a real top dollar sticker, if it sells - marvelous, if not, then someone may have e-mailed you with a lower price, that's acceptable.
Looks like it's in Latvia?
