Equipment of the Balaton Battle
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Some very nice photos are posted on English Russia site today. They are of German Tiger I, Tiger II, Hetzer, Jagdpanther, Bergepanther, etc. destroyed near lake Balaton, the last large defensive operation of the Soviet Army. Worth a look!
I put 4 photos in My Gallery "Batalon". I do not have copyright on these, study guide only.

Hi Folks!

Interesting site. Thanks guys!

There is one vehicle with the number 256 on it. Looks like a MK IV hull.

Could that have been a Nashorn?

It is below a Panther with two men standing in front of it and the turret roof has been blown upward.

It's a blown to bits Wespe, 105mm howitzer on a Pz II chassis. The caption reads (roughly):

"German SPG “Vespe” after being hit by a large-caliber projectile. Soviet salvage team number “256”. Hungary, Lake Velence, March 1945."

Cheers,
Rik

Thanks for the link pzkpfw-e. Anyone look at the photo I posted of the PZkpfw VI Ausf. B King Tiger with German troops notice the vehicle in background to the right? It looks like a 2cm FlaK38 Auf Pzkpfw I Ausf. A! Rick

Should have noticed the single road wheels! A Mk IV hull has duels.

Thanks Rikard!
