I am going to post here some cool artillery from Vienna.

During WW I this turret was hit a shot from a russian 280mm howitzer, but handled it pretty well:

The artillery display is very cool (I knew, since I was there first almost 20 years ago) but the temp display with prototypes gave me a great opportunity to see unique pieces:

During WW I Skoda build 44 guns and 43 carriages for the Austro-Hungarian Army. At the end of WW I Italy captured 30 full systems. Some of them were used by the Italian Army in WW II (one is at de Henriquez Museum, in Trieste).
At least one was captured by the Romanian Army at the end of WW I and can be seen in Bucharest:

From a Belgian fort in Antwerp. It was hit by an Austro-Hungarian 30,5 cm Mörser M 1911.
At the beginning of WW I the German Army was afraid of the Belgian forts. So they asked the Austro-Hungarian Army to help destroying them with their powerful and mobile heavy mortars.

I wasn't aware Bohler made a 44mm before evolving its design into the very popular 47mm

Is that a Skoda, and basically the same 380 that's on the railcar at Bucharest ("Barbara" or "Gudrun"...I forget which is which)? I see some basic similarities...I think.

Yes, it's Gudrun's sibling:

Thx...thought so. I took a lot of pics of those two girls at Bucharest (fall and winter is best, as the trees around them are naked then).

Yes, I would love to go back to Bucharest in fall/winter to avoid the vegetation, but I am afraid of two things:

1) You need good weather
2) You'll miss the tomatoes and zucchinis behind the tanks:
