Centi-Bunker
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi,

In the Full Museum you can see a centi-bunker for training purposes.

Regards,
Wim.

In general, are turrets emplaced as bunkers supplied with power (other than some minimal electrical capability, if that) or are they usually reliant on manual operation for traverse/elevation/fire control?

Hi Doug,

Interesting question. I have no idea, next time I visit the museum (july 2012) I will ask if the turrets in bunkers are operated manuel or with electrical capability.

Regards,
Wim

Hello Massimo,

I would be delighted to meet you. My wife and I stay for about a week in Zwitserland so I like to (must) visit the Full Museum 21 july at 10.00 hours, the same day I like to visit the Festungsmuseum Reuenthal, not far away from the Full Museum.

Regards,
Wim.

Cool, I took a note about the date. There are good chances I will be there. I'll let you know later on.

Do you plan to visit other military museums? Solothurm's Arsenal is a little gem, a place that usually the whole family enjoy. And the city is very nice too. I heartily recommend it. Dubendorf Museum (planes) isn't that big but worth a visit, it's very close to Zurich. If you are in the Lausanne/Geneva area, Morges's Museum is hosted inside a castle and the town on the lake is a pleasant place.

I have pictures on Flickr from Solothurm and Morges, not from Dubendorf (not yet). Feel free to ask if you would like additional info.

Going off-topic now, if you are in Zurich, stop by one of the many Sprungli shops and try some "Luxemburgerli". It's hard to explain how good they are, they aren't just food, more like a kind of mystical experience Smile
