Fort AP Hill / Fort Belvoir
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I should also add that this should be a cautionary tale. Be careful out there. Not every post has the same regulations. Some of the smaller ones are particularly zealous. Get as much permission in advance as you can, and try to confirm every little detail.

Post CO is a LtCol and SGM is actually a MSG. It's solely a support and training command, and a small one at that. Not infrequently, the lower down the food chain command is, the tighter the sphincters all around. I'm sure several corollaries come to mind from everyone's organizational experience.

Phone calls are nice, but nothing beats a letter or an on-post sponsor for a visit. Junior commanders/officers tend not to be so much about not doing anything nice, they just don't want to be accused of doing anything wrong. Nobody ever got reprimanded for just saying "no".
