French and American FT-17
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hmm... It appears they have repainted the “First US Sample Tank” (M1917)


and camouflaged it, even if it was only a "sample tank"..

There are some affords to bring to Poland a FT-17 tank from Afghanistan. That could? be a "new" FT-17 tank found by Polish soldier.

It will be a gift of Afghanistan government.

There are some talks that the tank could be an original Polish tank which was lost in Polish-Soviet 1920 war and then given by Soviet Union to Afghanistan. I don't know if that's write or if that is an "argument" to bring it to Poland. But Poland used 120 FT-17 tanks in that war and some where lost during fights.

I'd bet that this is the same one than this one. Same damages on the outer border of the tracks, the gun is pointing in the same direction and they probably removed the piece of pipe that used to be a fake barrel :

here is the question on a French forum about the Afghan FT transferred in Poland. The question is : could we identify the tank as being ex-Polish? It's in French but it could be easily translated.

There was a lot of discussion about these on the old AFV News forums. The conclusion was that they were FT17s sold to the US Army who gave them to the white russians in siberia c1920 who lost them to the communists who eventually gave them to the afghans.

There was a whole list of book references beyond my ability to remember.
