Nissan has done some pretty good music ripoffs too. Thankfully, they omitted the Morrissey lyrics from "How Soon Is Now?" by the Smiths. Great guitar riffs, poofy song.

This one is more like Stoopy's style, I think....

Didn't meant to ignore this thread, we appreciate the recognition Smile

Matter of fact, Nissan has been using surf music in their commercials for a long time - you don't realize it unless you're listening for it. Kind of bummed me out for a while as it seemed they were turning it into a simple kitsch commodity but, there are worse genres to exploit I guess.

I'm not sure if it's been used in any Toyota Prius commercials but if so please don't tell me as I'd have to go blow up a Toyota dealership to balance the books...

I like how in 2000, 222 H.P. sounded so badazz. It's like the '70's all over again (when a 220 H. P. Corvette was supposed to be awesome). I have a 6 year old Pathfinder with 270 H.P. and love it (yeah, I coulda' had a V8 but it was all about torque for towing heavy loads, which I didn't care about).

Sometime next year, after those S.S. checks start to clear, I'll think about getting a nasty toy, and have been flirting with the idea of hitting a Mecum auction pre-registered with checkbook in hand (though modern stuff is much better and comes with one not-to-be-ignored option called a "warranty" (and maybe factory air and disc brakes). Also may put a call into a couple of dealer types that grace the Velocity channel from time-to-time. I have a hankerin' for a '67-'68 350 HO Firebird or Tempest/LeMans or a big block (and maybe a 351, which are reasonably built-up after the fact) '68-''70 Torino, all of which are reasonably affordable....as opposed to a Hemi Coronet, etc.

Maxima, probably not in the cards, unless Iran comes up on the radar. Laughing

It's good when all of your miles are basically discretionary. Razz
