Three Amigos in Lesany
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I was getting more curios about the armored rail wagon i n Lesany, so I took a look at "German Armored Trains 1904-1945" by Wolfgang Sawodny (Schiffer Publishing)

Sawodny says it's:

"The command car of the Czech armored train "President T. G. Masaryk" (undoubtedly of German provenance, but not corresponding to the standard BP 42/44 type), which after the Czechs did away with the armored train weapon was dug in at an airfield as an underground command post"

The fact it came from an airfield maybe explain why it was initially on display at kbely.

Do you (or anybody) know of any good online sources of interior shots of some of the armored trains, historical or recent? That would make for some interesting viewing. I might have gotten into the one at Parola if we'd had more time since I was with the director, but time was limited and there's a lot to see there. February in Finland can be distinctly chilly when the sun goes down.

Dear colleagues,
with a history of Czechoslovak military museums it's complicated. In socialist Czechoslovakia was this military museum:

Museum of Czechoslovak Army,
Zizkov in Prague (former National Liberation Monument, founded in ~ 1930)
- Historical exhibition,
- Historical Institute,
- Library,
- Depository.

Military Historical Museum,
Hradcany in Prague (1948-2002)
- Historical exhibition (Middle Ages),
- Depository.

Air and Space Museum,
Kbely in Prague (founded in 1968)
- Aeronautical exposure,
- Astronautically exposure,
- Artillery exposure,
- Exposure of ground equipment,
- Depository.

Military museums of the Slovakia not covered.

Since 1993, the Army of the Czech Republic holds:

The Army Museum Zizkov

- Historical exhibition,
- Historical Institute,
- Library,
- Depository.

The Aviation Museum Kbely
- Aeronautical exposure,
- Astronautically exposure,
- Depository.

The Military Technical Museum Lesany (created in 1995)
- Exposure of ground equipment,
- Depository.

After 1993, created a lot of private military museums that are administered by various foundations.

P. S.
Photos of the inside of armoured trains do not know, but I'll ask.

I also visited Army Museum Zizkov and Aviation Museum Kbely. Hopefully at one point I'll manage to process all the pictures I took and post a selection here Smile

This is a very interesting vehicle. As far as I understand, it's a German WW II Klockner-Humbolt-Deutz that was used by a fire brigade after the war. I would love to know the exact model:
