Well it happened and quite by surprise. I've joined another squadron (actually an Air Force). This one has been around for quite some time and has been very sucessful in their endevors. Like ours they have members all over the world with a lot of wings and squadrons. Interestingly enough there is a squadron right here in Odessa!!
This Air Force is quit a bit bigger than JG300, But the individual squadron is a close knit group. Like ours, the squadron has their own hanger with bombs and military trucks around and I even think if look around some there are some other weapons around. The squadron even has their own plane!! I don't think they have any better looking ladies walking around though .
Well anyway I don't think this will interfere with my time and duties with JG 300, but I know I needed to let the Stab know about it, and I hope I can stay Smile

I go in as a Colonel
The Wing is the West Texas Wing, and I'll be the the Desert Squadron
All of this is a part of the Ghost Squadron or by another name The Commemorative Air Force.
My first years membership was paid for by my employer. Man I have been wanting to join their ranks ever since they moved their H.Q. to Midland, but me being the tight wad I am, never did it.. WOW Mr. Green

Phew!!!!! Had me goin' there for a few secs, 1Bullet!!! Congrats on your CAF membership!!!! Very cool....and yup, hehe..they do have some sweet planes!!!!

That link doesn't seem to work though...but I do b'lieve I know the outfit you're talkin' about. They won't smell the same as what you're used to I suspect!

Well I got to go to my first offical Desert Squadron meeting at the hanger out at Schleymeyer Field. The hanger is very nice. It has a plush meeting room upstairs with a wet bar and plenty to eat and drink. You can even go out on a deck and overlook the planes. Lots of pictures, beautiful paintings and displays of one of our favorite things AIRPLANES. They have a flyable PT-17 Stearman and a PT-26. Very nice!! There are a bunch of great guys and gals there to. I didn't get to meet them all but there is one man there who flew B-24s right at the end of WW II. His best stories are of his training. He really had some great times. There is also a fellow who flew Mustangs in WW II and fought in Korea and saw some action in Viet Nam! As soon as I get a feel of the place and S.O.P. I'll get ya'll some pictures.
I tried to mind my manners and not make to much of a pig of myself at the buffet, But I do recall someone wondering what that strange smell was.......... Cool

Congrats on your acceptance...

CAF OBJECTIVES:

1. To preserve, in flying condition, a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States in World War II.

2. To provide museum buildings for permanent protection and display of these aircraft as a tribute to the thousands of men and women who built, serviced, and flew them.

3. To perpetuate in the memory and hearts of all Americans the spirit in which these great planes were flown for the defense of our nation.

4. To establish an organization having the dedication, enthusiasm and esprit de corps necesssary to operate, maintain and preserve these aircraft as symbols of our American military aviation heritage.

Now this sounds like a great place! Perhaps a CC Convention meeting place in the future? Wink
