Odds and ends
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This is stuff that I've stumbled across and saved it just in case it might be of some interest.

M36 Jackson?

Turret looks like M41 to me, but the hull seems to be some adaptation. The bulge for the turret ring (if that's what it is) suggests the turret was stuck on some other vehicle type (one with skirts). M41 hulls are plenty wide enough for their turrets. I'm confused about it too.

Its a bog-standard m41 hull without catwalks or suspension etc...

Thx, never seen a "stripped" M41 before. Do my eyes deceive, or does it have skirts or not?

No fenders, no running gear. We normally don't see the bare sides of the hull, even in maintenance, so it looks odd that way.

I wonder where these M41's are at, an Eastern-European looking car in the foreground, cactus, T-55's and a Russian truck in the background.

Mike, they are in Asmera, Eritrea. Everybody knows where that is, don't they? Visible on Google Earth at 15.328689° 38.914198° There is a (liberal journalist) story about the place in the "7 incredible tank graveyards" website.
