With the HVSS suspension would this be an M4A3E8?

the "E8" and E- designations are "theorically" used for prototypes only. Then an M4A3(76) with HVSS should not be called M4A3E8 but M4A3(76) HVSS. This one is an M4A3(105) HVSS.

Anyway, the name M4A3E8 doesn't allow to know the caliber of the gun, because E8 refers to the suspension, not the main armament.
