Verona. Colonna della Libertà 2013
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Verona. Colonna della Libertà 2013

Every year in Italy the "Gotica Toscana" association commemorates April 25th 1945 with "Colonna della Libertà" an event dedicated to historical vehicles and reenactments. Usually it's hold on a different location every year. In 2013 it was held in Verona and the weather wasn't cooperating.

It's an opportunity to see vehicles from Italian private collectors that you can't see elsewhere that easily. This year there were vehicles from Germany and Switzerland too, including a Dodge truck from Argau, that I've seen in Full's Militarmuseum Smile

I was hoping to see some AFVs from Mr Temeroli's collection, unfortunately he didn't join this year. This, plus the bad weather and an amateurish organization, left me somewhat disappointed, still, Verona is beautiful and I really enjoyed it together with my wife.

If you would like to learn more about this event you can read here:

Let's dig into the pictures, this is an ex-Yugoslavian tank:

s/n for the M18 above is 982. I guess the picture and extra information can be handy for the PDF.

If you look carefully, on both pictures you can see the "Arena di Verona" in the background. It's a Roman amphitheatre

This tank is pretty well-know, it belongs to "Museo Memoriale della Libertà" in Bologna:

this tank was built as an M4(105), it still has 105mm fittings on the hull. The turret is a 75mm "high bustle" one, usually found on M4A3(76)W tanks.
Two other Shermans in Italy are former 105mm tanks, one of them still has the 105mm turret with a 75mm gun and mount.

Need help with this Dodge. The curved radiator grille makes me think it's an early model.

The Phänomen Granit is a 1500 S , or in the worst case a post war version made to look like a 1500 S
Do you have more pictures of this truck ?

By looking a bit better I think it is a post war Phänomen K27.

Thanks for the feedback. There is something that doesn't looks right to me...

Here I have 10 hi-res pictures of it:

Please note it's a big download (90 Mb). I know Walter has superfast broadband, but I want to alert the others Smile
