Junction City, KS - M60 Tank
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Junction City, KS - M60 Tank

Hi,

Discovered this a couple of days ago. (Found it in the Neil's listings but I figured I'd take some pics anyway. We can call the S/N confirmed and Neil can use my pic for that entry if he wants.)

M60 Tank
S/N: 1723 (All three of the usual locations)
Located in Junction City, Kansas (39°02'32.04" N 96°50'16.30" W), in front of the Kansas National Guard Armory, at the entrance to the airfield.
Marked as Tank 15, B Company, 1st Battalion, 252d Armor, 30th Brigade

This tank has the same weird casting texture on the turret sides that the Abilene tank has. I've never seen it before on an M60, usually they are much smoother.

Chuck

Chuck,
Some of that looks like casting. Some of it looks like small arms fire. Very small arms.
