German A7V
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I was going through my photos and found something I forgot. The German A7V was at Aberdeen before I was born! If you can read the caption, it was scrapped. Rick

It was A7V chassis 529, named Nixie II.
Lost near Rheims on 31st May 1918 , after being hit by French artillery, & subsequently recovered by US troops in July 1919 & displayed at the APG. Scrapped in 1942.

Pzkpfw-e, Thanks for the update, and original photo. It's too bad there was no sense of it's historical value in saving it from scrap. Rick

It was A7V chassis 529, named Nixie II.
Scrapped in 1942.

It might have been better than anything we had to field in '42!

Sil3nt, Thanks for sharing photos, it looks like the St. Chamond on 2cd color shot. Rick

Actually, I think the Schneider is visible in the second color pic. Note the wire cutter and the view ports.

Well, it too found its way back to France in 1985. It has been restored and is the world's oldest tank in running condition.
