M48 and M75 at Louisiana Military HOF & Museum-Abbeville LA
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Was doing business at the Abbeville Airport when I spotted the following vehicles. They are part of the Louisiana Military Hall of Fame and Museum located on the Industrial Park Loop at the airport (Website has old address)

LA Military HOF

Let's start off with the M48. She's in bad shape. No numbers on tow lugs but had some stamped in glacis plate: CB774

Here is the M75. Not sure of the validity of RN or Unit marking

And as a bonus, here is a wheeled AFV I haven't had time to ID.

Interesting. That M48 does not have the enclosed machine gun cupola, which would indicate a vanilla M48, but the storage basket thing on the back of the turret indicates M48A1 or later. The other indicator of M48 vs M48A1 is the shape of the drivers hatch, but that is not visible. Cool tank!

Walter, that is only 20 miles from home, so net time I get some free time, I will go get better pics.

The wheeled vehicle is a Cadillac-Gage (Textron) V-300 Commando APC with the 1m turret. The camo scheme could mean ex-Kuwaiti example, captured by the Iraqis in 1990 and recaptured either during ODS (1991) or OIF (2003).

It could be the same as pictured here, in which case it has been postulated that it was trialed in Saudi Arabia based on certain indicators.

Here's a few more Cadillac gage photos of the V300. I got them in the 1980s at AUSA. Rick

I think the M48 stamping is GB774, which I'm guessing might be Grand Blanc (Arsenal) build number 774. I've seen similar on M48s and M26s.

Kurt, I thought it might be a G, but had never seen a stamping with a G in it before. Learned something new! Will get better pics soon!
