The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Support the POF M4A1 Sherman

Hi Gang -

I was recently at the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA and had the opportunity to climb on and in their M4A1 Sherman. Very cool! They were getting it prepped for participating in the reenactment of the 1942 LA Air Raid. One of the mechanics, Steve, kindly took the time to give me the cook’s tour and answer any questions I had.

We’ve been long-time supporters of the museum (my P-51 ride was in their aircraft) as well as the amazing warbird air shows. What does this have to do with AFVs, you ask?

Well….. I’ve attached photos of a flyer for support of the museum’s Motor Pool of vehicles. Since many of you have become disillusioned with supporting the currently nonexistent National museums, we thought you might like an opportunity to support an organization that does great things with what they have and are doing their best to preserve and display historical artifacts.

We have donated funds to the museum many times over the years for specific aircraft restoration projects and have seen the money go where we wanted.

Contact them with any questions you might have and if you can visit the museum or attend an air show, make the trip - it’s an amazing place filled with terrific folks!
