M39 Armored Utility Vehicle at Aberdeen.
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

There are probably more recent pictures of the M39. It was in the warehouse near the Christie and the T-34 when I was giving tours. I can't imagine that someone in this group that was on one of my tours didn't take some pictures.

Bob,
I missed Your tours (or would have more recent photos of the M39) but think that these are two different M39's. Notice the one in the Munson Test area is light brown while at the museum they have it painted dark green. Also, the light brown one is being used as a weight load at Churchville, P.G.
Also the M60AO Training Only MBT at Thurmont, MD, did You ever find out where it went in PA?
If You do an APG Tour (if anything is left!) let me know since all I have left as days off this year are weekends and I'd enjoy a tour.
Thank You, Rick

I haven't been up there since the move. There is no museum any longer. As I understand it the 'Aberdeen Proving Grounds Museum' that was supposed to take over the reminants of the collection was still born and there is currently no museum on base

Bob, I was there last year Armed Forces Day (May) during the so-called "sequester". Grass wasn't cut and banner on old museum building was gone. I called the PAO who said "I don't know when the new museum will open". Since then, many more vehicles have been moved to Ft. Lee, and other places. I might go back to look at the vehicles on the museum grounds later this year, just to see what's left. Rick
