Land Warfare hall, Duxford
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

1 hour and a half to visit, and a few blurred pictures...

I've changed the settings and now everyone can download any of the pictures.

It's a bugger to get decent photos in there, low light levels & long distances from the raised walkway to the exhibits.

A few new things since I went in 2012, the Lizard (6367 )was in one of the aircraft hangers. I don't remember seeing the trench mortar (6261 & 2), the Grant wasn't there (from the IWM in London?) & I see that the PzIVD has gone.

that's right, the light conditions were not good, but my camera is very helpful. I would have had more blurred photos with another camera, I think.

The Grant comes from the IWM London, that's right. I wonder where the Panzer IV has gone. A staff member told me that the museum would remove the T-34 based Tiger reproduction (this is the only repro of the museum and so it does not fit there) and put the Jagdpanther instead. Wonder what will be put at the current place of the Jagdpanther.. Maybe the Panzer IV or the M40 Gun Motor Carriage?

They should bring that Hueshreck back, that used to be where the "Tiger" is.

well, to be honest it didn't really fit with other artifacts in the museum, as they are displayed more or less in a chronological order. However, it's quite surprising that a public museum sells such a vehicle..

It's just a matter of time, one of these days I will "fullfill my duty" Laughing

I really would like to go back to Hendon (been there a decade ago), visit IWM London, cover the Royal Artillery Museum before it gets closed and take a look at Duxford. Plenty of good reasons to spend a week in and around London.

IWM London is closed until 2015, that's why the M3 Grant and the Jagdpanther are displayed at Duxford.

I didn't know that the Royal Artillery Museum will close its doors, is it temporary or will they move to another location? Or merge with another museum?

Good to know, I wasn't aware of that. Good to know, thanks.
There is still a lot to do, like visiting Belfast (the cruiser) or go back for one day in Bovington.
