Spotted in Vienna
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I'm just back from a trip to Sarajevo and Vienna. Found a surprising amount of things to see in Sarajevo and also spotted this in Vienna outside the Historical Museum. Can anyone give me its exact designation?

By the way, did you visited the Historical Museum? If yes, is the WW I hall open again? It was closed for rework in December 2013.

Usually they run temp display inside the Museum during spring/summer, some of them can be very interesting, what about this year?

Yes it was open. The car in which Franz Ferdinand was assassinated was there and well as a large collection of artillery and some huge siege guns. Other things were an Albatross plane and a trench display and some armoured bunkers. The WW2 hall and the tank collection outside were also open although the tanks are just all parked really close together with no real explanation.

Good news, thanks. For a while I was afraid a move to a more "modern" approach would reduce the amount of artifacts on display (it kind of happened in the WW II area). Seems like things didn't change too much, but I'll wait for some pictures to be sure.

Yes, the outdoor display deserves a bit more love.

I assume there was no temp display, am I wrong?

No it all looked very finished. Among the items in the WW2 hall was a Borgward IV that appeared to have been dug up and outside a SU 100 and a Charioteer as well as a range of Centurion and AMX based vehicles.

Sarajevo has a Stuart, a Schienenwolf, a Willys jeep, an armoured train, a sIG 33, a Skoda AA gun outside the Tito Café and in the Historical museum are various small artillery pieces including three German mountain guns as well as the frame of a German glider.
