Land Warfare hall, Duxford
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Bovington is worth the trip if the Conservation Centre is open to the public. I mean, the floor of the building, not the viewing platform. Another challenge for you Wink

sorry I'm wrong, IWM London re-opens on July 19, 2014.. not 2015 !! it was closed until then.

I still missed the Tamiya Hall, since they were assembling the "Afghanistan" display while I was there a few years ago.

The Conservation Centre really intrigues me, but I see the floor opens just under special conditions:

I assume you can get some interesting shots from the viewing platform using a telephoto lens (even this means more stuff to carry along, I usually don't take longer lenses with me).

did you see my gallery on Flickr? I took one photo of each vehicle in the Conservation Centre for records. It was a real challenge, since there were constantly people looking around the vehicles and you had to be patient not to get people on the photos.

Yes, I saw your gallery. It's a really useful reference.
It's typical of those special events to be busy and have many people around, but it's often a way to get special access, or to leverage the fact that some vehicles may be out and leave empty spots inside the display, offering unique opportunities.
