M4 Sherman files
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I've been going through my old files and have a few M4 views to post.

# more photos. The one Sherman at APG in 1986 was apparently being used as a weight load to be towed by other vehicle, per the stencil on front of it.

The Sherman Flamethrower was at Aberdeen years ago. Anyone know where it went? This was before BRAC, just my guess that Anniston, AL Depot got it. Note the grousers on it. In background Tiger I has been primed red to be painted, and this was before the cement pads were under tracks.
Is the M4 Jumbo still at Ft. Carson, CO? Photos are from 1984.

We know of 3 surviving CWS-POA-H5 's
One at Twentynine Palms, California, one at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and the last one at Quantico, Virginia. If one of these once was at Aberdeen I don't know.

I'm affraid this isn't a Jumbo. Its a turret of a Jumbo placed on a regular M4A3. Only 8 Jumbo's survived (6 in the US, one in Canada and the last one in Belgium)

Michel

Thanks for the information Michel!
So the "jumbo" is a frankentank, and possibly APG CWS-POA-H5 is at Quantico, VA. There are a few other AFVs at Quantico, which came from Aberdeen: King armored car, etc. Rick
