The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Without seeing the rear end (if it has a fan bulge) it's difficult to tell, but the location of the headlights and the sawtooth skirts might mean it's a Type 69. It's been identified as a 69 in other sources, too (google "Bovington Type 96").

I have other pictures, but not from the rear.
Thanks

There is a new gate-guardian outside VCC (at least it wasn't there in 2011).
I think it's a Khalid, but I may be wrong:

It's a Chieftain Mk5 according to Preserved Tanks. ID 2148

Doesn't look like a Chieftain, not a "normal" one at least, the engine and whole rear deck is pretty much the one you see on Challengers. I have additional pictures of that.

How did you associated it with Preserved Tanks. ID 2148? I see no pictures here:
preservedtanks.com/Pro...queID=2148

Trevor reports two different registration numbers, the second one matches the picture above. But I don't put that much weight on it.

My guess is the tank mentioned in Preserved Tanks is one of the many now located inside the VCC. You can see some of them here:

I was wrong! I checked the other pictures, it's indeed a Chieftain!

Yep, quite a lot of differences between them.
Not like "Guess the Centurion model"!

You are mixing-up "Al-Khalid":
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...halid_tank

With "Khalid":

"Not to be confused with the Khalid tank, Jordan's version of the British Chieftain tank."
