Cemetery - Princeton, MN - M4A3(75) Gallery
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi Dan,

Nope, we haven't hit those other Sherman locations as of yet. Gotta save some tanks for the retirement years. Smile

Something seems odd with the gunshield. I've seen early mantlets with a very narrow gunshield and late ones with the wide gunshields but this one seems to have a shield with a wide right side and a narrow left side

It seems that after the addition of the direct sighting telescope the gun shield was widened on one side for protection. These have appeared in some tanks in the CONUS but I don't recall seeing any photos of them in action in WW2. Probably because the "blitz program" that upgraded most M4-series destined for the ETO. Anyway, it was a modification that was on the way to the full-width shield on Combination Gun Mount M34A1.
