Challenger v Toyota!
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This inspired me to create a little satire.

Walter,

The satire is hysterical!! Great work!

The original story is quite a hoot, itself. I'd love to see the insurance writeup on this one.

Cheers,
VB

In RVN, any vehicles on the roadway during the curfew hours were fair game. While I never had the opportunity to roll my vehicle over a four wheel vehicle, there were four or five occasions when a three wheel "cycle car" (really a small pickup truck sized vehicle) was present during the morning minesweeping runs.

When this occurred, it was standard procedure within our troop to "clear" the vehicle by rolling over it with a tank. There wasn't room enough in them for a truly formidable "IED" (we called them expedient mines, but no matter), and we didn't want to risk injury to the boys by clearing it manually.

We would have the driver button up, I would drop down in the turret along with the loader, and the rollover would occur. The end result was a crush about like an aluminum can under my heel - wheels, engine block and everything else would smash down nice and flat. Never had an explosion out of all of these that we did over my time there.

Lotsa unhappy locals after each of these events, but the rules were clear and posted, and the RVN government backed us up (as far as I ever knew).

And, the nice crush isn't all that hard to believe - cars and trucks are mostly air under the thin metal...

But that it was, and that you were there to experience it first hand in my place...

Well, as you in the Republics haven't faced a significant military threat since the South Moluccan crowd, you can understand my confusion at what you were "trying" to say (not directed at me)...
