The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I have some questions about the M901 Series.

I know the M901/M901A1 differ by the type of TOW they fire. I was reading Hunnicutt's book and it said that the M901/M901A1 could be based on the M113A1 OR the M113A2. Is this true?

Was there a M901A2? I checked Wikipedia and it was not listed and I do not recall seeing anything in Hunnicutt's book.

Yes and an A3 - quite how many were actually converted to this standard is not known.

M901A2 ~ Version with M220A2 TOW 2 launcher.
M901A3 ~ Incorporates the RISE improvements of the M113A3.

So it did - the M220A1 version.

Hard to tell the difference between it and earlier versions but there must be a record somewhere of the vrn of any vehicles that were upgraded.

Can anyone confirm the other question? Is it true that both M113A1 and M113A2s were used as the chassis for both the M901 and M901A1??
