Attached is a KML file I developed using the register, way marking, local driving, searching VFW/America Legions, etc. This is just for Illinois, I have some other states done, but this one is the most complete "marking."

Just thought I would put it out there if anyone was interested. Feel free to mess around with the file, I didn't put any information in each static except for the title. As I visit them I up date the static information. For example a ton say "artillery" until I see them and confirm the model. Not sure if there is something like this already created. If so, I would love to see it.

Last year I made KML/KMZ files and Garmin GPX (Custom locations files to be loaded into a GPS unit) for all 50 US states. The files are hosted on Michel's site at:

www.afvregister.org/Download.aspx

I too used smilier resources to compile.

After looking at all the created products, I have to pause and consider how to make this work building off the GREAT work that has clearly already been done, I am generally interested in all types of "memorial" static displays. I always debate whether to use the excel files as my base, it makes it a little more time consuming but in the long run more informative or just work in Google Earth with "plots". I will keep everyone posted on how I integrate the AFVs, Artillery, and Aircraft statics as I go. I will start with Illinois and experiment with some "knowledge management" ideas.

Ive been using Microsoft ACCESS, it works well and easy to attach a photo to. I've tried using LibreOffice 4.4 which is free, but I'm not smart enough to figure how to attach a pic.
