The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

If we're talking about the same thing, then zooming in on Massimo's photo of the M113 S Pz 63/89 M-73580 it looks like a metal cover over a long roll of canvas - perhaps a camo net.

I think you're right Trevor but it also reminds me of the strips of wood sometimes put across the fronts of AFVs to act as a splash guard and to stop the drivers compartment getting flooded with water!
