Research question PAVN PT-76 Ben Het/Pleiku
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Research question PAVN PT-76 Ben Het/Pleiku
I have located a number of photos of a PAVN PT-76 knocked out at Ben Het in 1969. Found them on the internet at a site called 'fold3'.

The photos are attributed to SP5 Ellis, of the 221st Sig Co (Pic).

I believe there are probably more pictures than I have been able to locate, but I don't know where to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question: Why is this PT 76 so important? You might beable to submit a request to the photo division of the National Archives, asking for photos taken by SP5 Ellis.

This is one of two P7-76's knocked out in the only know instance of US tank vs PAVN tank action in the entire war.

Yes, that's the one. I've seen your site while looking for pictures. Thats one of the better pictures.

SP5 Ellis took some picture of this tank in Pleiku while standing on the back deck looking into the engine compartment (found one picture), and I'm interested in other pictures of the amount of damage done.
