What is left at Aberdeen
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Any vehicles left at Aberdeen? Was the rail cannon moved out?

I think there is nothing left. Anzio Annie has been moved to Fort Lee.

Last I knew the Aircraft and 16 incher were it. They did have a banner on museum building in 2012 saying that the museum would open in 2013, then banner disappeared. I called public affairs there and they didn't know when or if ever it would open again. Rick

Silvio,
Check out AFV news Dec. 28, 2014 and page 14 Oct. 1, 2012 "A trip to Aberdeen" which has some photos of the day trip I took there. The Aircraft (1) was mounted on a frame at the east side of museum field. I don't really follow aircraft, so not sure what it was, seemed out of place of there though. If you read back through the older posts they'll answer some of your questions. The APG museum got a few vehicles from Ft. Monmouth, NJ which in turn were sent to Anniston, AL at a later time. Also, the Atomic Cannon was supposed to go to Ft. Sill, OK. As far as anyone knows, the old Ordnance Museum is an empty building, and empty field around it. Rick

Thanks.

The AFV News I refer to is this site. Yes, George Bradford retired from publishing the original AFV News magazine. I'm just saying, scroll back and read older posts here to help you catch up.

Sad Crying or Very sad Aircraft?
Looking at google earth it looks like a Beech t-tailed King Air, perhaps a military C-12?
There is an airport at Aberdeen, but that's to the south of the ex museum area & a/c.
Strange that its not displayed at the airports entrance.

Also a GREAT SHAME that's its all been moved away to many different places afar!!

I was there this past summer pretty, just a AML, T-34, and a slumped barreled M60 left...plus the aircraft on the old museum grounds.

With out a picture, I can't comment with any confidence, but the ASA (we're-not-here-, this-is-not-happening so we'll call ourselves "Radio Research") operated any number of militarized civilian general aviation aircraft for radio intercept and whatever-else-they-do in Vietnam and certainly elsewhere. RU-8's an some Beech aircraft fell into this category. (A number operated from Phu Bai, where I spent some time) Maybe one of those? A proliferation of antennae are typical of these aircraft.

www.nsa.gov/about/cryp..._asa.shtml

"GREAT SHAME" doesn't begin to describe what I regard as desecration, but that's just my opinion.

AML as in Panhard AML?? Could you give me a location for those, so I can put them in the register.
Google Earth gives at 39.471387, -76.110784 some armor, but have no idee what and if it's still there, but it shows still some armor at the museum's location.

Good Morning,

The AML and T-34 (100 yards to the east) are located at 39° 29.238'N 76° 9.295'W at the "petting zoo." You can see them on google earth if you want to get an overview of them. Matter of fact the google earth imagery is pretty good.

The M60 is right next to the old Museum on the first pad to the right if you are looking at the old T-12 and museum building. You can see the M60 on Google Earth too. It was the only thing on the old grounds minus the C-12.

Attached is my OLD photo of the AML (2008) in front of the HQ Bldg its still there, someone will have to chime in on the version. Sorry I cropped out a friend so the size is awkward.
