M1917 6-ton Tank
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hello folks,
Does anyone have any idea where Fred Ropkey's M1917 6ton tank has gone to? I also would suggest anyone wanting to see his collection, go now. It might not be there in the future.

Knights Armament. They have a VERY large MV/AFV collection in addition to firearms.

It's quite concerning that such rare items can just disappear.

Reed already has a 1917, will check and see where Freds 1917 has gone.

I heard from the guy at the Anderson Museum in Indiana that the M1917 that was part of that collection had gone to the Knight collection in Titusville, FL.

I've tried to get in to see the Knight collection a few times and the scheduling didn't work. The tours were only on a certain day and I couldn't make that day. Still on the to-do list but I understand that photography isn't allowed in the Knight museum - anyone know different?

I tried to get a hold of them to make photography arrangements for an article but they said they need to take the pictures, watermark them, THEN they want to proofread the article before I submit it.

McClain merged with Knights to form a large collection. I heard they were suppose to acquire Littlefield's collection but that fell through

Reeds m1917 is formally Joes 1917. it needs some work but will be nice when they finish it. Been to their museum a few times, great collection. Have lots of photos but don't know what the official rules are on that. will head down there in the near future for another tour.

I can't remember the name of the collect in Ohio that Knights bought about 2011 or so but I know we discussed it here, it should be in the archives. It was one passionate collectors collection. The owner died suddenly and the family sold it to Knight. Before that the collection was very accessible an d there were some fantastic pieces. It went into Knights and hasn't been generally accessible since.
