Saumur
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I am no expert on panzers, but is that a Ausf G chassis with an Ausf A turret?

No chin? Like I said, I am no expert by any means on panzers, just going by what I read.

None that I am aware of. Indeed I would love to see even some vintage pictures of them. P-O, can you help?

A Massimo said, the chin was a fairly late modification and even when fielded the old style mantlet continued to be fitted from available stocks.

Looking at the different Sherman hulls, were the crew any safer in a cast hull like the M4A1 or the welded types? Or was it purely to do with ease of manufacture? Somehow, and without any deep knowledge of ballistics, the cast hull looks stronger.
