Hiya Capt and welcome to Com-Central... Wink

Runway 12 seems to be taking the sim world by offering a great way to do add on scenery for free available: Here!

There are some good commercial products avilable too with a popular FS Design Studio from Abacus available: Here!

We also have a new file in our FS2004/Utilites download section called 20 Macros by Frank Betts that you may want to check out.

It would help to know where your local airport is. As Bush said, we have a download of Frank Betts macros (I use 'em myself) and he has a website with developed airports all over British Columbia and the Pacific NW.

There's a good chance someone has done your airport, but it helps to know which one it is to point you to any available downloads....

FYI, I use FSSC for my scenery projects...it's free and easy. Also a lot of macros available for it. If your runway is basically correct, you can enhance the facilities without recreating the whole place by careful macro placement. This is exaclty what I did at 2-3 of my projects (the others are built from scratch).

FSSC has a built-in tutorial (and I suggest using it!) and it helps if you have good images of your airport as a guide. Don't go overboard on the macros and you can make it fairly convicing without whacking the frame rates too much.

Whoa! Jinnah is a pretty nice airport. You're gonna' need a macro designer to reproduce THAT building!

Derek Leung's FSSC can be downloaded here:

www.fssc.avsim.net/

There is an internal tutorial to learn it, and I suggest you do the exercises...very helpful.

Macros are the virtual "objects" you see in scenery...buildings, cars, objects on airfields. FS2004 generates these automatically, but you can add and build scenery with objects not found in the simulation as it comes from the store. Most are available free from many download sites like AvSim, Simviation, and others. "Google" is your friend. Use terms like "macros", "api", "FS2002" and "FS2004" in your search terms...also any specialty terms like "cars", "hangars", etc.

The FSSC site will tell you a lot about what to do and have...and AvSim has a good FSSC forum for developers. There is a less visited one at www.hovercontrol.com in the "developers area", but folks there are helpful as well. Don't start asking questions on the forums 'til you try the tutorial in the software, though....it will answer most of your questions and provde some experience.

Custom macros would be things like your unique terminal building. I can't build those, and it's quite a bit of work. If you play around with the "building" in FSSC, you can construct a good approximation of your structure by combining elements of several buildings...use your imagination...this will make more sense once you try FSSC.

There are other scenery programs out there, but I only know FSSC.

Good luck, and don't be in a hurry!

I can only use and place macros built by other people....building one myself is beyond my skills. If you use the building options within FSSC, you can combine elements to make an approximation of your terminal. If you try to make it "perfect", it will begin to affect frame rates because of complexity (it's a complex building). Combining these elements is not something I can do and send to you, it will need to be within your own FSSC file that you export to FS2004.

I'll try, when I'm available (I'm traveling as of Thursday this week and all of next...won't have computer access much....if any).

Do the exercise in the program, build the airfield they have in the tutorial at 0/0 lat./lon. where you can do no harm. Experiment with building your terminal. That should take you at least a week....
