Tanks in storage/range target @ Elgin Air Force Base(Flickr)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Thanks for your update about the M47 units with the turrets cut off. I surmise that these were created to better reference soviet block tanks like T54/T55/T62 for range targets.

I think there were also a bunch of either M46 OR M26 that were rusty as heck within the fenced area. These were a dark rust brown versus the "soviet" green paint of the M47s. It's difficult to see them because they all brown out together.

Your probably right about the M728 Combat Engineer unit what I saw.

There is indeed an XM800T at Ft. Benning and it's now on display in the new Cavalry & Armor Historic Collection.

I stumbled across this web site, they do some sort of dirt-bike geotagging type of riding at Eglin using various military relics as waypoints.
This Sherman looks to be in pretty good shape. It looks to be an M4, possibly a PSC with appliqué armor on turret and hull.
