This is a picture taken by my flight instructor this morning, while I was doing my third flight. This was the first time I saw clouds from that close. Lessons are going great, my instructor is pleased with my learning.

Excellent news bud!!! Been meaning to ask but didn't want to be nosy!!!

I second Fled's question - in the little bit of flying I've done since becoming a simmer, I've found it helps a LOT with familiarity of the instruments, but there are other things that just can't be duplicated.....very interested in your take on this, dude!

It is my opinion that FS helped me alot in all aspects of practical flying, heck, even CFS helped me I think. My instructor told me that most simmers tend to look at the instrument too much when they begin real flights, wich was not the case with me fortunately. He even encourages me to practice the lessons we did, in FS afterwards. It surely helps with the commands, instruments and physics. The only thing you don't get in FS, is the "feel" for the plane, although force feedback is better than nothing.

I'd say it's a great tool for learning real flying.

Thanks Hoppa, thanks all. BTW, I'm up to 45 degrees turns, and most time-in-the-air, most distance-in-the-air.... next are slow flights and stalls I think, and then, "spinnnnnnnsssss".... lol can't wait.

I'm the kind of person that want it all the day before, so my biggest problem is patience right now. I can't wait to take my wife on a flight, and she kind'of gets it, but I know that when she flies with me, she'll be taken over by the laws of the "real".. lol

anyway, I'm glad you guys have an interest in this, and I'll keep yo9u posted

A few years ago, my roommate gave me a certificate for a discover flight that she bought. When I went to the airport, I saw the simulator that they used to train the students for the flight school, and it was running the same program I had on my computer, FS2002. I know they have probably upgraded to FS9 since. The only real difference with them and mine was the extra hardware they were using. They had a radio stack, throttle assembly with multiple knobs, pedals, and a yoke instead of a joy stick. Of course we can now get all that at a fairly reasonable price compared to what it was when I saw them. A good setup cost around 2000 or less for the extras now.

That's great Exos. I got my PPL in Rotorcraft, officially on 5/14/04 so I know how exciting it all is to be up there and experiencing it all.

Different aircraft but as a Harley Rider who pulled up next to me at a stop light while I was riding a scooter said, "doesn't make a difference what your riding, as long as your riding" Laughing

Keep it up, keep us posted and enjoy it.

Do you get a full loadout of ammo, or are you shorted about a thousand rounds like in the Focke-Wulf? Laughing

I only have a pea-shooter in my pocket, Ascout... but it's "VHO" Mr. Green

Ground school is finished, now I need to fly another 7 hours before I can take my Canada Transport (like the FAA) exam, on ground. Then around 40 more hours before my flight test and liscence...At about 1 hour a week, I should finish next october.

You'll add time when you start taking the cross country flights, which for me was the most fun. It was really cool to plan a flight, calculating wind and time and distance, and then completing the flight right on the time you predicted... very satisfying.
Learning maneuvers is fun too....
Man what am I saying................it's all fun........
Oh I forgot.... The first Solo uuuuuuyeah...... Cool
7-4-74 for me
