Bradley and an IED
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Bradley and an IED

Hi Folks!

Ran acrossed a Army News Service story by Staff Sgt. Mark Wojciechowski dated January 31, 2006.

Bradley with A Troop, 1st Bn, 32nd Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division hit by a 155mm artillery shell. Kill radius for that type of IED is 75 meters.

(my notes: the 101st has Bradleys? Article didn't say how far away the Brad was from the shell.)

Blast blew three skirts off and shattered one of the 2-inch thick protective glass panels on the turret.

One Soldier received a shrapnel wound to the hand.
This is a good example of how turret crewmen staying below the glass blast shields save lives.

Roy,

Yes, the 101st has some Bradleys here in Iraq.

The 101st now has 1-32 CAV, 1-33 CAV, 1-61 CAV, and 1-75 CAV (one in each BCT). It's interesting that 1-32 and 1-33 use the unit crests of the old 32nd and 33rd Armored regiments of 3rd Armored Div.
