The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

...that there is a fabulously entertaining posting of Amphigavin drivel with the most amusing model pics at the bottom over at:

www.geocities.com/army...gavins.htm

..unless bandwidth limitations have mercifully restricted access by now.

Just in case someone needed some cheering up. Wink

Ascout

Unfortunately I was able to access that fantasy crap website. Obviously another in the 'trail' of the Sparks Rants. Thankfully NOONE IS LISTENING TO HIS SNIVELING WHINES. It just clutters up the corner of the internet reserved for moronic maniacs.

(...and I'm being nice...)

Hi Folks!

The truly sad thing is sites like FAS.org have picked up his Gavin claims and repeat it as if it was true. Extra sad is that the FAS.org web master has failed to listen to all those who have tried to inform them that Mike Sparks doesn't know what he is talking about. Sad

There was another site somewhat like FAS.org, however that Web Master listined, checked into the counter claims, and deleted all references linking the M113 to the name of Gen. Gavin. Smile

Then to make it even worst, some guy who doesn't know a thing about AFVs wrote a report for a congessman and used FAS.org's info about the Gavin. Evil or Very Mad

For those who don't know where the M114 with the name LINGLE is coming from, it is a joke being played on the internet by a number of us treadheads here at AFV News. We are all waiting for the day when some military article calls the M114 a Lingle based on what they find when they do a search for info about the M114. After all, if one reads something on the internet, it must be TRUE, just ask Mike Sparks.

Did any of you all catch Mr's Sparks idea about taking an Amphigavin and carrying some of them somewhere inside a seaplane version of the C-130 (HOW-Hercules on Water project), land the aircraft on the water, open the rear hatch and have the Amphigavin drive out and into the ocean?

Why do I have visions of the tail end of the aircraft sinking into the sea as the Amphigavin moves off of the center of balance for the airframe. The aircraft standing up on it's tail as the Amphigavin crosses the ramp and then both of them does a crash dive to the bottom of the sea.

I wonder if Mike Sparks plays with G.I. Joe equipment? Confused

Any one else notice that he is starting to post credits with some of the photos he uses? Wonder why he has started doing that?

Dear Gen. Lingle...

It is indeed an honor to have the namesake of the all-capable M114 Scout-scootin' vehicle participate on our humble forum. We've argued here for ages about the need to get the C-123 "Provider" back into production in both wheeled and float versions so we can obtain further flexibility into the air and land mobile concept by extending the modality into the "AmphiLingle".

With this exciting capabilty in hand, we can forsee the day that legions of bar-armored M151A2 "MiniLingles" will follow-on in fleets of re-introduced C-7 Caribous for the final Air-Mech Strike blow that will render potential enemies combat ineffective from "combatreform shock effect". The "proof of concept" work has already been demonstrated with an experimental M274 "NanoLingleMule" (with a 106mm RR..no "popguns"!) delivered by a Piper SuperCub (some assembly required), so confidence is high that the dream is only a few short developmental steps away...and all with off-the-shelf technology! With that in hand, we forsee a day when Honda 350"Dreams" (the "PicoLingle"...or in some quarters, the "LingleBerry") delivered with a mounted trooper aboard dropped from UAV's will dominate the battlefield.

Wink

Just for a hoot, I "Googled" for the following combo:

"Mike Sparks" & "stupidity".

Got the following hit, and I swear it happened just like that...try it!

Would you be receptive to the M114 "Lingle"? ...at least there's an idea with some merit....not to mention a logical connection.

Hi Folks!

To JG300 from General Lingle. LOL Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile LOL
Coffee almost covering the Boss's keyboard!

To Tankload's nailed it!

Thank you for your support in all of our efforts to get the LINGLE name nailed to the M114, the greatess C&R vehicle ever!

To Chris, thank you for you support in holding the line against wasting Gen. Gavin's name on a vehicle that is not far from passing into history. I think the M113 FOVs is a great vehicle (FMC did it right when they build that one) but it has served it time. It should be remember by the names that all of us who crewed them called them by. Smile

To JG300 again, your link to 'stupidity' was just one more item proving that when someone can, we all need to speak up and let others know just how far out of bounds Mr. Sparks is. Neutral

After reading that one, I need to go back and read the lets name everything the LINGLE!

Careful, your statements are on the fringe. The 'Lingle' was (is) a cool little vehicle but, greatest ever....(??!!) Shocked

(Warning: obscure reference ahead....)

Hi Don!

"Greatest ever" was an alertness test to see if anyone was paying attention. You passed the test!
