That would be very tough to stay in formation with that many planes...

Post subject: Re: This Day In History

Well I think this is the best thread to post in about my latest experience....I just watched a movie/war documentary called "Memphis Belle",, I'm sure most if not all of us have seen the movie with Matthew Modine and the little guy from Rudy,,,,,,great movie,,,I myself own it and now I also own the wartime departments first technicolour film on basically the same subject.....
My first post in this thread was the raid on Wilhelmshaven,,,well the 25th mission of the memphis belle was this exact location,,,,it was a submarine base and was totally destroyed.......All of the footage in this documentary was taken from a photographer that rode aboard the memphis belle on this mission and I assure you,,,,there is some spectacular footage taken,,,,,,
I couldnt help but notice many of the similarity's and also the stuff added in by the hollywood romantics to the actual movie,,much of it was very real and much was just hollywood gumbopootlets.......

But anyways,,,,,this was the best $6.99 I ever spent on a dvd cause it had me laughin' my butt off and also in awe at some of the destruction left on those B-17's that actually landed,,,,,some with no noses or rudders,,,hydraulics or running engines,,,,,,the movie was correct about one thing,,,,,the memphis belle did arrive late and intact,,,,,,,,,but upon its arrival it did a triumphant low buzz of the airfield,,,,,,,

~S~ to that great crew and a famous plane!!!!!!!!!!
