Fort Knox / June 2003
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Kinda old news now but figured I'd share since AFV is now on CC.

Attended a ceremony/dediction for a memorial for the 3/5th Cav in which my Father served in Vietnam 68-69. He finished out his time at Forx Knox as a gunner on an M60A1 after VN and it was cool to drive around with him and listen to his stories of his time there. Even got to see the barracks where he stayed, well the foundations at least, the rest was torn down LOL. Was glad I was able to attend with him.

One of the restored ACAV's 'we' have is nicknamed 'Black Knight'. The unit markings on the vehicle are from Vietnam photos from members of 3/5 CAV.

I was on hand in the Motor Pool, following the dedication ceremony and gave tours to the Reunion members and their families, to include unveiling the completed 'Black Kight' ACAV.

FYI

OOpps, there was one side that didn't show (fixed/top pic) meant to post that one and not the pic of myself but oh well.

Cool Tubleweed. My Father was in D-Troop. They had each of the troops pose in front of the memorial for pics and I think A-Troop was the largest group. D-Troop only had 4 members that were able to attend so unlike the rest of the troops the photographer had no problem fitting them in frame LOL.

Richard,
As you know, we have some of your father's 8mm film transferred to digital and stored on the Com-Central server. Would you like to release a link so those interested could view the one pertaining to Ft. Knox, M60A1's, and an M113?
We'd need to be careful how we do this so everyone doesn't try to download at once...unfortunately, it isn't available to view as streaming video and has to be downloaded, saved, then viewed. The download can take from 15-30 minutes for the 3-5 minutes that I recall the video was in length....

Ya Doug. You can figure out the best way to make it available. Spoke with my Father and he has no problem with it. Someone may even recognize a tank or one of the people in it. The exact date of the footage is unknown but would have been between 69 & 70.

Don: sorry I missed that oportunity, wasn't aware of it and would have liked to have taken that tour.
