This would be a what and where?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I know that The Germans fly ( or flew) T-37, T-38 and F-104s with American Markings. I suspect that they had F-4Fs also The F-4F was a version built specifically for the Germans I believe it was a single seat version without Aim-7 Sparrow support.

Bob, the Luftwaffe F-4F was still a two-seater and, at least by the late 1980's had Sparrow capability. Not sure whether or not it later got AMRAAM. As one of only two USAFE squadrons still operating the F-4 in 1987-89, we were reduced to having to buyback a lot of airframe spares from the Luftwaffe, naturally at much higher prices than the Germans paid for them! The Luftwaffe also operated the RF-4E in the tactical recon role.

The link I included in a previous message on the thread (after my initial one) mentioned the change in the Luftwaffe F-4 from single to dual seat and the upgrade to handle Sparrow. Seems the requirements changed over time Smile

Do any other countries fly inside the US? The German planes with US markings, are they American made planes?

The Arizona Air Nat'l Guard has a training facility here in Tucson for F16s. The have an entire UAR? Omani? Air Force squadron of aircraft here, just for training that nation's pilots. They also train other nations who have purchased new or upgraded F16s, on contract.

The Germans and the Brits occasionally visit Davis-Monthan AFB here for a month or so. It's sort of neat to see a German F-4 flying by, or a UK Tornado (NOISY!) on final. We haven't had F-4s flying around here for about 20 years, so seeing one overhead is a weird deja vu/flashback sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure that there are foreign visits and tenants at other AFBs around the US.

Also, the Canadians used to come to Camp Grayling and Ft. Custer in Michigan, for training. I think we occasionally send folks up there, too.

Grayling , Mich. I did a number of "Summer Camps" there when I was a member of the Ohio National Guard fron 82-92. Prior to that, my family went there a few times and stayed at the campground there while my gather had his summer camps. I remember alot of A-7 Corsairs flying around at the time as well as Hueys.

The Canadians used to come through Langley every other Saturday Morning When I was at Langley back in the late 70s early 80s. Four F-101Bs heded south, 4 F-101Bs headed North Some folks thought they were the same planes but those of us who looked at tail numbers knew better and occasionally the North bound and South bound would be on the ground at the same time
