Tradoc, et.al
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

i am prompted to make a comment due to a video that robg had told me to watch. it was pretty cool to see. they had what the nam vets would have called a "gun truck".

it would be interesting to see how the u.s. military would have fared if we would have known back than what we have learned today.

nothing is fool proof, but it is nice to see that the objective is more farsighted in designing, procuring and providing for the boots on the ground today. i am sure not everything is perfect but...

just my two cents

www.knox.army.mil link at the bottom center of the page.

The vehicles being looked at are ones currently available from a number of manufacturers. If you look closely, the BAE MICV is basically a lengthened M113A3, just given a new name.

Most of what you see demo'd is stuff that has been made because of lessons learned from all over the world including Nam and Iraq.

Hi Folks!

Thanks Sabot! Very interesting. Razz

A M113 with TWO turrets? I guess I would call that a super ACAV!

Very interesting video, particularly the "Oshkosh" Bushmaster in the context of Al Bowie's post about the ADI Bushmaster.

You may wish to visit the Australian Defence Force site to compare the BAE Systems MICV with the stretched M113 that's about to enter service with the Australian Army:

www.defence.gov.au/arm...fault2.htm

There's a video of the "Hardened and Networked Army" that shows some of the new, old and ordered equipment.

Great video. Thank you for posting the link.

I couldn't help but wonder about the Teledyne Brown MTT-CS vehicle, though.

Do you think one day it might grow up and become one of these.....?

You mean Aller Gelände-Gepanzerte Transports?

This was talked about on the old board:
