M56 Scorpions -
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

That's a great pic! Is that you sitting on top of what looks like a Stug III Ausf G? Where is that place located?

If ever in Indiana, the Fred Ropkey Armor Museum has a fully restored M56. Turns out that it was the only pic I took that didn't turn out very well but is worth taking a look at sitting behind a desert tan M109!

Have a great Easter everyone!

Jeff, Seems like a few years ago I visited the Ropeky Museum web site. Do they still have it? I'm close enough now that I might get up there. Seems like they had a Sheridan? More info, please Razz

Is that Armor museum anywhere near Camp Atterberry? I've got to go there in June.

Here's the new site

www.ropkeyarmormuseum.com/

looks like it's just been updated.

Camp Atterbury is in Edinburg, just south of where I live and the Ropkey Museum is in Crawfordsville which is about 50 minutes (75 miles) North West of me.

Camp Atterbury has an Ontos, a few M4A1E8's, a couple of M47 and a M60 Patton's outside as well as a M42 and a few softskins.

Let me know if anyone plans a trip there! I'd like to go again!

Oh yeah, no M551 there at Ropkey's, but it's mostly American armor with a Type 97 as the only exception. They are restoring an FT-17 right now.

He has does have 3 Shermans, and unrestored M42 Duster, a Pershing from which Tamiya did the actual recording from for their 1/16 R/C tank, and a few Stuarts as well as many other's there too.
