FREA-KING SHARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The metalflake comes out pretty well in those pictures, or enough to get the idea!

That lil' fairing works that well huh? Neat!!!!

And hey man - don't forget to clean your 'Stang now....looks a little dusty around that rear bumber...

Jeez, gimme'a break, Boss...see the part about "heavy rains" causing me to leave said bike at dealer overnight. 'Stang was clean 'til I made the run to the safe deposit box (title for Sporty) at the bank (where they store the money).

BESIDES...I hear we're finding your man-bra and other undergarments at the site of a steam-bath party where there was some questionable goings-on. 'Least you could do is to pick up after yourself. Wink

I don't know if it's the fly screen, or just the riding position, but I don't expect the wind to be an issue after my blast home this morning. Besides, these still have the H-D version of a poor man's "cruise control"...a thumbscrew on the throttle, that I can use on the highway if my right shoulder gets to botherin' me. Just as well...I hate the look of a windshield...even a small one, on anything but a conventional dresser/cruiser.

SWEET!!!!! I don't mind the look of that radiator at all. If only it had forward-mounted pegs like the American....it's a knee thing.

Anyway......hope the weather clears up, wanna hear more about how that beast rides!!!!!!

Well, as they quit makin' T-birds in '02 or '03, the value of your bike should put you right there, if you knowhudahmsayin' Wink

Cool ride Ascout!! but keeping it below 6500 for the first 500? that's going to be a bit of a trick .please keep us posted on how she rides.

You ain't kiddin'!

OK, quick and dirty revised pics (still partly cloudy day). I adjusted bars downward for more sporty ergos, went for a short blast (while assiduously keeping below 6K Evil or Very Mad ).
These ain't no torque monster air-cooled big twin. 1130cc of four valve, water cooled joy though....60degrees, so better primary balance. Remindes me a lot of my old Ducati, just more of it. Buttery smooth transmission and shifts, sportbike braking. I like having the midset controls and highway pegs forward (I can shift with my heel very naturally, since I've been doing it for 30 years)...so I can "sportbike" it...or cruise. Nice tone. Wife sat on it and lifted off of kickstand...she was surprized to hear it was 607 lb's..feels lighter. She could ride this bike, if I let her (fat chance, anytime soon).

I suspect I'll never own another air cooled Harley again, after this. They have their charm ( I should know, I've had five), but this is a quantum leap that needed taking. Like it or not...this is the future, and it is good!

Mr. Green

Mileage Check!!??

Only about 85...run of bad weather on the weekend...and Saturday I rode it over to the dealer for the new replacement rear wheel (some dingbat had scratched it up in mounting...those wheels are options it came with new from another dealer). In the course of doing that, they noticed the rear pulley was also scratched and ordered a new one of those, too (all warranty items)...should be here in a few days.
Saturday my wife should pick up her 2002 Triumph Bonneville, so maybe we'll ride over for that event and I'll lead her home.

The VRSCA, B, and D all have 3.7 gallon tanks (the "C" has a five gallon). At basically 30 mpg, the range is pretty much like my 2.2 gallon Sportster was...by 85 miles you better have you next gas stop planned, and by 100 you better be there. High reports say 115-120 but that's well broken in and constant highway speed. There is a lot of calling for a larger aftermarket tank (tank is under seat). Around town while twisting the throttle a bit, I went through two gallons in 54 miles, but was admittedly "spirited" in acceleration (while keeping it under 6,500 rpm...redline is 9,000).

At least I can use pump gas now...couldn't (in California on our salad oil) on my Sporty. I envision carrying one or two gallons in a low bar bag for backup.

BTW, fuel injection is wonderful, either on this or on the "airheads"! No choke, no stumbling, just pull the trigger and go.

Well hey, at least your 85 miles into it at least....FWIW my Sabre gets about 110-120 miles on a tank before it's definitely time to pull over at the VERY next gas station which better be close by. Mileage (and smoothness) slowly increased during break-in of course.

WOW can't wait to hear about (and see pix) of the wife's Bonnie!!!!!!

188. Took the wife out for a 30 mile ride with her on the Bonneville yesterday...."training flight" mode in San Diego traffic on carefully chosen routes with a little freeway time. "June Gloom" weather has come early this year and last weekend was stinko. Plus, I've got THREE trips coming up (one to Ft. Knox and S. America and Europe in June). Gettin' caught up before I disappear for a while (I'll be really rare in June...only in the country for maybe 7 days total).

Riding conservative, I seem to get about 35mpg.
