US order of battle Iraq-- armor
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Does 'Cp' mean 'Camp'? Inquiring minds want to know.

The generic formation name suggests that ALL of the Regiment or Brigade is deployed. We know that is not correct, but it sure sounds impressive.

Reading the placenames reminds me of some of the word games we played in Bosnia. Gornji Vakuf = Grungy F$%& Off, Donji Vakuf = Dingy F@#% Off. Any new ones in the lexicon?

How inventive,...

In Bosnia 99 I didn't know of any 'nicknames'. Demi, Dobol, McGovern (all Camps) then Han Piasak (sp), WS-054, Vlasnicia,WS-087, Klandanj,and Milicia were the biggest towns on patrols. Some Ran up to Zvornik anddown to Sebernicia every now and then. Of course, Sarajevo was cool for a 'night over'.

Oh yeah, sorry - Camp.

And yes, it pretty much means that where the brigade HQ is - or at least in many cases that's where the brigade press releases originate from Wink
