'Pride & Joy' update
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Beautiful job and the results were well worth the effort. "Congrats" to all.

But yours is.

Very well done.

Some of the truck drivers at work were talking about it today. I guess they stopped in and checked it out. They asked if I had ever seen the thing with 6 recoilless rifles. Sure looks good. I love your camera too. Does a good job.

that is one little platform of quick mobile firepower.
what type of cruel and mean things did you have to do the rifles to make them "legal"?
YOU DONE GOOD!

Shawn she sounds awesome

We've made (in process of being completed) 'sub-cal' devises so that we can chamber 75mm salute blanks. Talk about awesome!!

We have yet to fire all six (at once), that will be a blast! ( Laughing ). We have test fired one of the rifles, and it preformed beautifully.

I can't accept all of the credit, many of the other volunteers have worked to get her completed, over the past two years. Without all of their effort, the Ontos would still be in a dusty storage building.

With this project nearing completion, I guess I need to find another vehicle to 'champion'.

well don, et all, good job.
a couple of questions for ya in re: optics, firing, etc.
you have 6 rifles, 3 per port and starboard, all 3 are a fixed group correct? has the .50 range finder? all 3 zeroed the same? each side can elevated independent of the other? what optics are on the thing?
was just thinking of the fun to take it out and shoot and scoot a course with her, in that case you would need a good driver, a good team to put your rounds on target... just entertaining myself.

make sure you go and have some fun with her!

Hi Dontos! Hi Folks!

Looking great Sir!

Thanks for the photos and thank you and all the volunteers for all the time and hard work that went into that vehicle.

Only the two upper inboard spotters are fired from the fire control panel, the two lower rifles didn't have spoting rifles mounted...however there was a field mod that the mechs could do to bring to two upper out-board spotters into action (with the short 10 round mags, the shorter mag were called combat mag and the larger 20 round mags were "training" mag, but the crews always used the 20 rd mags for the fire power.)
Oh ya..nice job dontos

Thank you ole top.

The magazine explaination also is a big help. We have 2-10 round mags and 4- 20 round mags.

Shawn:
The left and right banks are joined by a center shaft. When elevating, both sides work in unison.

I can attest that it is in great shape, as I've seen it first-hand. The Ontos gained another fan last weekend (and I don't mean me, as I already was one). I seem to remember "I've never seen anything that looked like that" being part of the conversation. Wink
